Penny Crawford serves as Director of The Wellness Center at Atlantic Shores, part of the Atlantic Shores Retirement Community – a 100-acre campus in Virginia Beach, Virginia, featuring a 50-bed skilled nursing facility, 53 apartment home assisted living facility, a 14-bed Memory Care unit, and over 400 independent living units, ranging from apartment homes to freestanding villa homes. In this position, Penny is responsible for the primary care and emergency care of the Atlantic Shores and Harbourway residents, along with the wound care and ostomy program for Harbourway, Seaside, and Atlantic Shores. She joined the Atlantic Shores team in April of 2003.
Her clinical background began at the prestigious Johns Hopkins Hospital. She then progressed to positions as Critical Care Nurse, Educator and Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse Manager in all divisions at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. She also left legacies at two local medical facilities – developing the Wound and Ostomy programs at Sentara Norfolk General, and founding the Wound Therapy Center at Sentara Leigh Hospital.
A recognized specialist in her field, Penny has also published numerous articles in nursing journals, textbook chapters and guidelines for nursing care. Originally from Baltimore County Maryland, Penny has lived in Virginia Beach for more than 30 years. She has a Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing, and a Masters of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University. She is also certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and as a Certified Wound, Ostomy Nurse. Penny resides in Virginia Beach with her husband, and two of her four children live nearby. She enjoys walking, playing with her dogs, sewing and gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Elizabeth serves as Administrator of Harbourway – a 53 apartment home assisted living facility and a 14-bed Memory Care unit, located within the 100-acre Atlantic Shores Retirement Community in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Her unique skill-set helps Harbourway maintain a standard of excellence that exceeds the standards set by the Department of Social Services.
She originally joined the Atlantic Shores team in May of 2000, as a nurse in the facility’s Seaside Health Center (skilled nursing care). Her talents were then tapped for the creation of Harbourway – including developing the policies and procedures that currently govern this high-quality assisted living facility.
Prior to joining Harbourway, she served as Director of Health Services at a local assisted living facility, where she was instrumental in assisting them to open their brand new 90-bed facility.
Elizabeth began her career at Rochester General Hospital on a medical-surgical unit, after graduated from Isabella Graham Hart nursing school in Rochester, New York in 1994.
She is also accredited in Assisted Living Administration, and is currently an instructor in CPR and medication management.
She resides in Shawboro, North Carolina with her wonderful husband and son, and enjoys taking care of her many animals and horseback riding.
